Spider Books

Check out these darling spider books we made today in class!  My partner K teacher came up with this idea inspired by a resource found on the internet.  She was gracious enough not only to share her idea; but also to share her volunteers who used a cricut machine to cut out the large spider and the smaller ones found on each page.

Also Mr. Jerry Crabs just molted this weekend! We came back to a pile of  limbs at the bottom of his cage, but he was looking pretty normal otherwise!  Sorry no picture of the limbs!

Spiders and Pumpkins

We have been working on spiders and are starting pumpkins in our units of study.  We have heard a lot of nonfiction stories in our learning which aligns with the common core standards.

More pumpkins learning and fun to come!!

Creepy Creatures Fun!

I bought several packages of these creatures from the Dollar Tree.  We sorted them, counted them, and compared the numbers. Finally, we graphed a handful of the creatures.

A little seasonal fun integrated with math !

Cookie the Cat, Simple Circle, Fall themed projects

After reading Cookies Week we made a cookie the cat art project with paint, paper plates, and construction paper.

We continued our shapes with this simple circle project.
We used magazines to search for, cut out, and glue, green items to fill in the middle of the circle.

We are moving into fall themes with this interactive writing chart and AB pattern haunted house project.

The children are learning so much so quickly!  We have had an incredible beginning to this year!

Simple Yet Cute!

This is my way to teach shapes more creatively.  They are very easy for you to prepare, yet simple and fun for the children to complete.

Children color the inside of the square and outline it with yarn.

Children fill in the center of the triangle with tiny squares of construction paper.

Look at how cute these are!

Here is a picture of a few of the monsters we created using Deanna Jump's directed drawing idea.  We also watercolor painted them as she suggests. I tied this into language arts by introducing letter Mm that week.

This was a math activity that integrated language arts.  We used pattern blocks to cover the fish template and we talked about what each of the shapes was called.  Then we added the bottom strip that students had to trace.  It says, "F is for fish." I did this activity after teaching letter Ff.

This is my version of the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom activity.

Mini lessons for concepts of print

If you are looking at a blank screen, it is because you are using a mobile device of some sort.  I couldn't see anything on my IPad. Link to lesson available on School Tube

Part 2 is also on School Tube. Click to view Concepts of Print (Part 2)

I just created these props that you can use that go with these COP lessons if you wish!!
I made the larger size for the teacher and smaller size for the students!
