Five for Friday 4/24

Divider-1_thumb7_thumb2
I've been getting ready for my summer book study.  I hope you will join.
All you would need to do to join is get the book, write a post for each chapter, and then link up your post.  If you teach grades k-6, then you will link up with me at http://kinderblossoms.blogspot.com/.
If you teach grades 7-12, then you will link your post at http://kovescenceofthemind.blogspot.com/
(See the posting schedule above.)

The book is called "Reciprocal Teaching at Work:  K-12" and is written by Lori D. Oczkus.  It is available through Amazon.

It's the end of the year, time for floating and sinking activities.  Students here are drawing a picture of the results of a floating experiment.

This is another year end activity that I like students to do to review long vowel sounds. These pages are free here.

Five for Friday

Divider-1_thumb7_thumb2

We used the left over parts of my Butterfly Vowels project to make these.

Of course, we were busy getting ready for Easter and sending the kids home with goodies.

We had fun using this Heidi Butkus Tooth Subtraction Freebie.  She provides children heads that you can copy, but I was in a hurry, so I had the children draw their own.  We also just used snap cubes for the teeth.

My students love "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom", so I created this activity a while back that uses word families. You can grab yours FREE here.

We made some quick hand flower paintings.
We have had some beautiful spring weather here in Southern California.  Spring has sprung!

My First Glyph!

This is my first attempt at creating a glyph.  I found it very challenging.  Still, I enjoyed creating this.  I like the fact that the glyph kids don't look like the students who created them. They are representations of their pets or lack of pets! If you would like to try it yourself, click on the image.
